Take Me Back (Déjà Vu)
The music for this song, from the Balance album, was originally written for For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge. The intro for this song was the same intro used for No More Waiting, an unreleased Van Halen song dating back to the band's club days.
The acoustic guitar used on this track is a "Musser," a South American guitar Eddie bought at Norm's Rare Guitars in Los Angeles. Eddie also plays some slide guitar on this track.
Two complete sets of lyrics were rejected by producer Bruce Fairburn before a final third set from Sammy was accepted. This may be one of the reasons Sammy wanted this song dropped from the album and replaced with Crossing Over.
This song was remixed in February 1995, but no one has reported hearing a difference on any official releases.
