Strung Out

This track, from the Balance album, was recorded in the spring/summer of 1983. While renting Marvin Hamlish's beach house in Malibu, CA, Eddie trashed Hamlish's white Yamaha grand piano. He threw everything he could find into the piano and raked various items across the strings, including ping-pong balls, D-cell batteries, and even silverware. The small 1-minute, 29-second piece actually comes from hours of tape Eddie made while destroying the piano.

Eddie had the piano fixed and once claimed that Hamlish might not have known about the incident until the song came out.
