Right Now

When Eddie first wrote this song, from the For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge album, he envisioned Joe Cocker singing on it. Right Now was written before Jump and was inspired by Cocker's Feelin' Alright.

Eddie recorded it using an acoustic Steinway piano and a Hammond organ. Sammy suggested the opening guitar parts that Eddie played. Eddie used a 6-string bass and a Leslie amplifier for the rest. Mike used his 1964 Fender Jazz bass.

Portions of an early synthesizer version of this song can be heard in the 1984 movie The Wild Life.

The video for the song won Best Video, Best Direction and Best Editing at the 1992 MTV Video Music Awards and was produced by Carolyn Mayer and directed by Mark Fenske. It debuted on MTV on 03/05/92.

Pepsi used this song in their commercials for their ill-fated product Crystal Pepsi. Saturday Night Live parodied this song and it's use by Pepsi in their commercial for "Crystal Gravy."

The song also appeared on Best of Volume 1 and Live: Right Here, Right Now.
