Me Wise Magic

This song, from the Best of Volume 1 album, was the first song that Dave recorded when he reunited with the band in 1996. At first Dave didn't want to sing it, but changed his mind after reviewing the rest of the prepared songs. Recording ran from 07/22/96 to 08/02/96, and mixing took place on 08/05/96.

Eddie used a prototype Wolfgang on this song, outfitted with a Transtrem tremolo (a standard feature of the Steinberger guitar). He also used the Fernandes Sustainer on the end of the track.

The title was taken from a racehorse of the same name.

Though videos were scheduled for both new songs from Best of Volume 1, only the one for Me Wise Magic was actually started, but it was scrapped shortly thereafter. It was a concept video that involved voodoo rituals.

The song was leaked to radio stations on 10/03/96 and officially released to radio on 10/07/96, four days after David Lee Roth's open letter to the public condemning the reunion.
