I'll Wait
This is one of two songs, from the 1984 album, David Lee Roth and Ted Templeman wanted left off album. They felt that Eddie shouldn't be concentrating on keyboards so much. But Edward and Donn Landee were adamant about its inclusion on the album. The other song was Jump. In June 1984, I'll Wait peaked at #13.
The lyrics were co-written by Michael McDonald, who suggested, years later in an interview, that Dave was having a hard time coming up with the right words to fit the song. Dave's lyrical contributions are about a girl wearing men's underwear in a Calvin Klein ad. Roth tacked a picture of the ad next to his Sony Trinitron TV and wrote his lyrics to her.
The song was first recorded by Eddie, Alex and Donn and played for Ted, Dave and Mike the next day.
