Eddie used a Wolfgang Special on this track, from the Van Halen III album, which was either very similar to or the same as the one used at the City of Hope Benefit. The guitar features a Steinberger TransTrem.

The song was mixed at 5150 on 06/04/97, though mixing was attempted at another studio prior to this date.

When asked about the ending of the song, Michael Anthony added, "It's kind of a Pink Floyd parody. Ed called the studio from another studio line and we recorded him over the telephone." The lyrics at the very end of the song were inspired by the Bible passages in James 3:3-6.

The song was used in the movie Lethal Weapon 4. The song's video centered around a Lethal Weapon 4 theme. The video was only played a few times on MTV and was more likely to be seen in small clips during television shows that promoted Lethal Weapon 4 in July 1998.

The song was also used in a Japanese car commercial for the Skyline Sports 4 Door.
