"5150"

This song, from the 5150 album, was recorded on an L-Series 1958 Fender Stratocaster with "5150" carved in the body that Eddie also used for Best of Both Worlds. The song was written in drop-D tuning, but for this track the guitar was tuned down to D, with the low E string being tuned to C.

Eddie was in a hotel in New York, possibly for his appearance on the Late Night with David Letterman show, when he initially came up with the main riff to this song. He called Sammy from his room at 3:00 a.m. and played it to the vocalist over the telephone.

The performance of this song on the Live without a Net video is often considered by fans to include one of the best solos Eddie has ever played.
